I joined your forum yesterday and just though I should say hi. Ok, yes it's true I do post on the Uk forum (the only one I know of!) and what I thought was 'the' Australian fourm - that was until Boz drew my attention to your forum..

...Hi Boz:)

And yes, I am from the UK, but no I am not stalking the other UK posters! - just coincidence?!

I do seem to have a habit of getting threads closed by the moderators - once through naivity posting on an old thread re-opening old done to death arguments - B&W belts, need I say more? Doh.gif Fortunately the moderators let the discussion play out then locked the thread smile.gif Not sure how I got other threads locked - maybe they just got too big for the site dunno.gif

Anyway, I promise to try and behave and trust Boz will have a word in my shell like if I start treading on toes....you see, I've got these big boots.... cheekywink.gif

Just so you all know where I'm coming from, I used to instruct for GKR (I know, I know), we moved to an area without GKR and now GKR is expanding to my area. Despite itself, I think GKR is a nice family club; we certainly enjoyed our time in the club.

Now I have to consider what involvement I have with the club when it arrives, assuming I will be involved - will I be prepared to instruct again? I am keeping an open mind and have not made any decisions as yet. Your discussions help my deliberations - hence why I read these GKR forums smile.gif

Hi David, glad to have you here. We`ve never had to close a thread yet - and only really moderate in the case of personal attacks on someone.
You`ll recognise quite a few people from various other fora here.

With regards to your situation - I imagine it would be quite challenging helping to set up a new region, and you`ll have the chance to teach all your students from day one.
cheers

smile.gif I went and did the welcome elsewhere... oops. Never mind.

We don't have terribly sensitive toes, just by the way.

Why Just David?

Why not "David the fifteenth", or "David the Tall one"? Or "not so tall", if that's the case tongue.gif

Welcome to the "nice" GKR aussie forums. biggrin.gif (oooh, time to hide from that one tongue.gif )

True, it would be a nice challange, and very rewarding to be involved from the very beginning...

never mind Nooms, a welcome is nice wherever it is:-) - good to know sensitive toes are scarce...

- just david because david is my name and it was already taken on another forum (more than one david on the planet), and I am what am - just david! - Also because I had a silly username and couldn't change it, so I asked the moderators how I could change it to something simple, like 'just david' - hence the name..

...I think myself lucky they didn't give my 'simple david'! biggrin.gif

Atb,

David
Tom
hehe, usernames....... I used to be known as Whiskeyonesix until - in a moment of madness, I asked Jules to change my name to something a little more "oz" smile.gif

Once tried to set up a friend's hotmail account ages ago for Stinky_Munchen and an Evil_Penguin_Overlord one for myself. Both were taken blink.gif

All well, hiya!

W16, I had wondered why you had reference to a wombat... not very common in Birmingham! - or maybe I just don't know where to look?

Welcome David,

Great to see you here, I look forward to evading those difficult questions you come up with tongue.gif
Best Wishes,

Scuse my late welcome (training, honest wink.gif whistle.gif )
Just to reiterate - free speech is the go here (barring personal attacks and being mindful of our younger readers of course) so go for it - I can promise you will not be moderated/closed off unless for above reasons. I also like to think we are pretty 'neutral' with regards attitudes to the club and welcome comments either way.

Glad to have you here smile.gif
Jules
Ohh I heard my name smile.gif

Nice to meet you David...Welcome to our community!

I'm late due to time zone issues biggrin.gif

......who am I kidding...I'm always late wink.gif

Gotta say, I like this site already - email thread notifications make my life so much easier smile.gif smile.gif

I'm with you on the time zones Jules, stuns me sometimes when you guys on the other side of the world post.... do you never sleep?!....

Nah, we have a roster to make sure there's always someone available to post lol.gif

Hi just_david biggrin.gif GKR is only a friendly family club because the people at the grass roots make it so. They're not the ones making money from it. (I can say that, can't I?)

FWIW I think the ones who get the most stick over being GKR instructors are those who stand up and say "Look at me! OI! You should be listening to me, I've been Sensei'ing for weeks now!" while beating their chest about it. blahblah.gif

Expect yourself to be press-ganged into teaching. You have 8 nights free every week, right?

Mick, spot on; those in the forefront make it what it is...debateable what that is though! wink.gif

8 nights a week - nice one...oh how true as well!

I'm off on my short trip West to take part in the STP (only a 6 hour drive), just in case I let myself be press ganged...

I was in a good mood that day. sheep.gif

Welcome David; you'll find some refreshingly frank and honest discussions here and not a small amount of knowledgable imput. Don't worry though, I just lurk most of the time..... sofa.gif

I'm pleased you were in a good mood, I like my username smile.gif ta very much. It's been a good choice as each fourm has been able to accomodate it.
