After watching for a while, the usernames I see are begging to be laid bare! So, tell us what your username means and why you have it?
If I may start (maybe this'll go nowhere...)
Mine's made up of my first name and the brand of dirtbike I ride. Hence Shane and Vor.
Now how boring's that? There's gotta be some more interesting one's out there!
I was thinking of changing my name to 'betty' but then I have that 'boy named sue' song running around in my head...the old blokes will know what I'm on about

MY NAME IS SUE! HOW DO YOU DO?
dribble over.

Well i guess my name is pretty boring

, it came about, when people used to say look theres that man with them two kids again, as we were always in attendance at lessons, seminars, tournys etc, being inventive i added my surname!.
I have also been breifly known as "Spectator", that was chosen because,i watch every lesson seminar, tourny my kids attend.
Nice post shane an interesting question, i remember asking someone on the forums quite some time ago, why they called themselves, what they did, i found there answer very interesting and learnt something new.So come on people post away.

Jess
Jul 4 2004, 12:10 PM
Um... my name's Jessica...
Am never called by my full name nowadays, though I love my name - it just feels really weird for some reason. I get Jess or Jessie most often. (Other names from various family members.)

Jessie probably has more of a ring to it, I'm not very inventatitive, so I added a "C"... There you have it! My user name.
Probably could have thought of something better, but it was a spur of the moment thing and it's stuck.

Well as one of the perhaps more unusual usernames mine is a derivative of my real (last) name.

I started it using a number of years ago on bulletin boards in the days when a 9600 baud modem was classed as "wow that's fast"

.
Sionnagh is Gaelic for "fox" and my last name in Gaelic is a slang term which also means "fox".

When we set this up it was originally meant for communication between a couple of dojos, so I figured using my real name would be best. That plan soon fell in a heap

.
I use the name wylie on all other forums. It was the name of my cat, who unceremoniously disconnected and crashed my computer when I was registering so I figured it appropriate. Sadly he is now deceased. The two events are not related

Back in '87 when I was an exchange student in the USA I was introduced to a fantastic Console game "The Legend of Zelda"
For those who are not familiar with the game the main characters are a princess named Zelda and the Hero named LINK.
I started using the nickname of LINK on fidonet and some Bulletin Boards.
Then when the "Net" started to get popular and the 2nd IRC network (EFNet 1990) started to grow I was being bombared by others wanting to use the same nickname. So I slowly modified my nick and I went through various incarnations such as
|link|
Link^
^Link^
Link2
etc
I was sick and tired of playing games trying to secure my nick of LInk so I figured a permanent change should occour. As I am from Oztralia I Figured OZLINK was an appropriate modification to the original Link.
So that is how I came to be OzLink

Oh my. Look at my avatar. Is that not Link? The Legend of Zelda rocks. =O
Anyway, Brodius is just a name I randomly picked to use for everything online. It's also the name of an online RPG character I use on a few ezboards.

I have noticed your avatar brodius and I must say it is a mighty fine avatar at that.
The Legend of Zelda most certainly does rock. It is the only reason I continue to purchase Nintendo Hardware. If it wasnt for Zelda I would have converted to a PS2 a long time ago.
Malice
Jul 5 2004, 02:06 PM
My names been used in all kinds of crap over the years, i started usin it when i played the game blood omen: legacy of kain alot, his axes are named havoc and malice, me and a mate played that game hardcore and when we were doin backyard wrestling back in tha day we made tag team havoc & malice after we got over that, as everyone did, i just used it as my name on forums, games and what not (or if malice was taken i'd use p3malice).
Also one of my other mates is a sick anime drawer and he always draws all the crew so we needed pimpy names right? so i just stuck with malice (the p3 stands for pimpateer number three), yeh he draws us as the pimpateers, sum funny funny stuff but anyway thats where the names from

o and my avatar is when i used to chill on the gaia forums and thats what i ended up lookin like on it (yeh pretty lame...

How'd I miss this topic ?? "Sensett" obviously does NOT stand for Seriously Elementary Noticeboard Surfer Exploring Typed Text hehehe
Waaaaaaayyyyyy back years ago (yes Mick, about 100 years ago) when I first started visiting GKR messageboards, I had to think quick to join SpookyD's first Yahoo board ... "Username??? What's one of those??" I thought to myself. So being rather clever (no comment Mick OR Kathie!!) I thought up a rather cool one, but being rather in a hurry I left off a letter .... "DOH!!!!" I exclaimed "That's supposed to say SensettE !!" *Sigh* Being a creature of habit, I've never corrected it.
As to what it means ....
All the instructors in our region 7 years ago were male - and called Sensei ..
I was the only female sooooooo ..... Sensette (yeah yeah Sensett NO e *sigh*)
Only I'm not really sure what that makes me - without the E on the end. Perhaps it means Im generic ??
Keep Smiling
Jo
(I'd like to mention that the "Keep Smiling" sign off was stolen from me by an unscrupulous QLD'er though ... but its a great sentiment so in this case I don't mind sharing

Goyle
Nov 1 2004, 12:00 PM
I've had the nick of "Goyle" ever since year 9. It's a derrivative of my surname, Guilfoyle, and was given to me by my friend who incidentally got me to start up GKR. So I suppose I have something to thank her for!
Jess

Oh well... that name has bad connotations for me. Think "Crabbe and Goyle", Malfoy's little cronies off Harry Potter.

As for me , well I had to think of something ... as I am a futurama fan and Leela is my fav character... welll...join the dots.....
