Really liking what I've seen of the new website so far!

IMO while it looks good there isn't a lot of content to keep people returning to the site. And they want a LOT of personal details to subscribe to the online newsletter thing.

i agree with mick,there is a lot of personal questions to get the newsletter, nice layout.However i expected a lot more on the site given the time its taken to get here,so overal im dissapointed.
It will get better im sure, given time!!!!

Agree with Mick, way too much info required to register. Why do they need my address? I guess they like to keep statistics of their members which is fair enough, but it is kind of off putting. I dont like having to declare my grade or be considered a white belt which is why I wont register on the UK forum.
I can understand having to agree to terms of use, but having to agree with a privacy policy?

Hopefully they will improve the site after recieving some feedback.

I filled in most of the blanks and gave them a username and password...then was notified that I'd get an email with my username and password. But I told THEM what it was! very clever indeed!

still needs a chatroom or forum...but then where would this site be?

I train in another style under a shihan and I was under the impression they were fairly common. I take it that this is not the case?

As far as I know there is only one shihan in GKR.

I guess Kancho only considers one of his students to be a "master".

The official site's pretty bare.

A chatrrom would be great, and maybe a forum, but whatever would happen to gkr.net.au?

yes i did log in and the only thing you can do with it at this stage is to change any of your details you wrote when you first applied for your subscription..but we are supposed to get an online newsletter.(i haven't got that yet. but i will let you know when i do) i joined on the 15th and i looked back on that magic email and it was sent to me at 9:51:01pm, so i'm impressed. it also confirmed my email address and password and signed by the GKR Karate Team .. did anyone else get one?

yes i did but still waiting for the site every one was waiting for i think it was abit flat

what no forum? and i was looking forward to being the first person kicked off the site . not much in it at the moment but like has been stated here i'll give it abit of time to evolves

I doubt there will be a forum. An official one would have to be too heavily moderated.

Well Sam now thinks the websites great, but thats only cos he has got his picture on it, im lurking in the background.

Hi, a very informative link on kancho's profile page to the Blitz magazine articles from a few years ago. Takes ages to down load on normal modem as there are many pictures.

I thought initially that all the personal info required was to allow access to a forum. Maybe there will be one, but it would most likely be a very sanitised, restrictive forum for open debate. So this site will have much to offer.

With some of the comments I and many others have expressed, the thought police would have our name and number marked in red. Our files stamped never to grade again. That is not too far removed from actual reality. I was informed recently that I only single graded last year because I raised issues and expressed concern about the standard of instruction I was receiving at my local dojo. It was concidered bad form and showed lack of respect.

The section on tournament results, news and future events was very useful.

overall when compared to the other "unofficial GKR" sites set up and run by local dojo instructors, it was very ordinary.
