Do you like it? Have you studied it? Would you recomend it?

I did Shotokan for a year, in the form of GKR. So it was diluted.
All the line work was deep low stances and so tence. Everyone was tired within five minutes. Yet when we sparred, it was more of a natural stance!
It was just my experience, but it was a negative one. But as I said, it was a watered down version.

I have been told that GKR is like Shotokan too, but i dont believe it because GKR consists of about 20 techniques if that and Shotokan has At least 100 maybe more. I did GKR for a while and since training in Goju I really cant compare GKR with any of the more established older styles at all. GKR just doest have alot to it. Im not really sure how GKR is still around to be honest with you. I am suprised it hasnt been taken to the ACC or other such organisations as a money making scheme.

Enough about that. I have decided not to take Shotokan mostly because I couldnt find the dojo last night when i went looking and it has disheartened me so much that i may not look for another dojo for a while.

I'm currently learning Shotokan, have been since January.. I find that Shotokan is a 'traditional' style of karate, with a lot of basics and stance correcting. I trained with Kenshukai before for a few years when I first began, I think that was a mix of Goju ryu and Shotokan as there are a lot of similarities between the two.

But.. Yes I like Shotokan and I would recommend it.
