Hi all

Has anyone else found that alot of the clubs out there are becoming more like businesses than clubs? Its not just the way they are run either but also the $$$ values attached to training with them.

I used to train in a style of karate <not nameing names> here when I was younger. I left to do some other stuff and when i got back to it, the prices for lessons had almost doubled and there was a huge push for people to grade even when they were clearly not ready I assume for the grading fees.

Anyway my question is has anyone else found that things are becomeing more $ driven and how do you cope? do you just shell out what they want to continue training? do you find different clubs?

Anyone else thought about these sorts of things?
Tom
I think I can guess the name of the club you mentioned, since i've a pretty good idea I used to train with them too - many moons ago........ When I stopped training with them in summer 2006 it was 5pound 50 a lesson, thats what - 11 australian dollars or so?

It's sad that things are becoming more money-driven, though having said that, some of the best classes i've ever attended were just a couple of students and the instructor, The instructors concerned know they're only just drawing even, but its fairly safe to say that classes with fewer students tend to be of a higher standard than those from larger classes.
