Just to see who's still here and active, please take the time to drop a quick post to mark the register and let us know what you're up to. smile.gif

I'm still here. tongue.gif Still training in Goju Ryu with a heavy dose of Steve Morris thrown in. Currently a shodan training twice a week in Birmingham when not laid up with a bad back. Available for weddings, fetes, barmitzvahs and ass kickings - please email or pm for rates and availability. biggrin.gif

Anyone else here?
Susan
I'm also here.... biggrin.gif

Sort of training in Kung Fu. Still in purple sash level. Still only part time training. Need a kick in the arse to get back into it properly. (hopefully my change in roster to one week on one week off will make it easier to get back into a proper training routine).

Hi, my name's Mike and I'm an alcoholic, oops sorry - wrong forum - I mean 'I'm a karateka'.

I run a small club in Leeds, UK, teaching Shorin Ryu Karate. Over the years I've also dabbled in a number of different arts including Taekwondo, Ju-jitsu & Tai Chi but can't claim any expertise in any of them.

Not doing as much training as I would like these days, due to all sorts of other commitments, in particular at the moment as my good lady wife is heavy with child and I've got loads of DIY to complete before the baby appears.

Hello im still here too, this is sam lol.gif , i thought i had my own username, but it cant find it so im going to join again in a moment.

My training has slowed a little over the last couple of years, i take one day a week off now lol.gif

I no longer train in GKR, after getting to shodan ho,also i have left Tang Soo Do, and Freestyle at the grade of shodan.

I now train in Wado Ryu 5th kyu, ju jitsu 4th kyu, and kenjutsu 4th kyu and kobudo 4th kyu. http://www.renten-goshin.co.uk/

We also train with steve strong sensei at tsuyoikaratejutsu.co.uk on a regular basis, including informal get togethers on a sat morning where we just pressure test things, which is great for me and Rosie, as we get to try stuff on adults, who wont just let go, we have to make them.

We still attend seminars as much as possible, though we are a bit more picky now, recently we trained with Hoyce Gracie in coventry which was really good.
We still help out with the terry Taylor disabled martial arts seminar, it gets better every year.

I think thats it for me cool.gif

I'm here, I'd rather have a new user name now though; something along the lines of 'Si'. Seeing as thats my name!

I'm a green-belt in Wado Ryu, apparantly grading next month. I'm only training three times a week, shame.
I train at Jiriki Karte Club in Normanby, Middlesbrough. We now have direct links with Shingo Ohgami Sensei, along sides Senseis Leo McDermot and Tracy Foster.
I can't get enough .
Last Tuesday I lost my job, the next day I went for an interview and my main enquiery was 'what time they finish?' Just so I know I can make it to karate on time rolleyes.gif
Tom
Evening Si, we can rename you, just give us the nod...

We have the technology smile.gif

Hope you working now, being on the rock n roll is only fun for a while !
pleb
I'd appretiate it if you would sort my user name out, Tom. I only picked pleb out of daftness, thinking I wouldn't be using the forum for long.
I got a job the very next day, but I don't start there untill Monday. The nerves are kicking in now. In twenty years of work I've only had four jobs and never been unemployed for more than a day inbetween.

Hi Guys wavehi.gif

Been a member since 2005, been involved with karate since 2000.

Currently not training, I stopped training begining of 2007. Between working full time in the legal profession and completing my Grad Law degree part-time, there is not much time left for scheduled activities!

Still around, just don't get on here very often and don't have anything useful to say karate related.

Cheers

Mel

Still here. Still doing same old stuff I been doing for last coupla years. Teaching some.

Still here. Still training... less than a few years ago due to studying fulltime. Still go "ooh!" from time to time as something else clicks into place and I connect another idea that I have to try out on people smile.gif

Occasionally I browse other sites and find they're discussing stuff that was hashed out here ages ago which they think is cutting-edge in applications and self defence but that's only because they're only just getting to it. Maybe people are just reading old posts and not having to ask questions, or not wanting to because of how much stuff has already been said...?

Will, that’s me is also still here. Still doing GKR, still Shodan-Ho, still in the WA State Team. I started doing some Jiu-Jitsu to learn some close in and ground fighting techniques. I’m hoping to get some use out of it for another tournament in Albany, WA.
Is anyone watching the “Human Weapon” series on TV?? Some interesting stuff there.
Jess
I'm still here - though lurking. tongue.gif

Stopped training with GKR in September last year and am training with another club in Brisbane. smile.gif Still 3rd kyu (well, ungraded at the moment) but hoping to change that sometime this decade. smile.gif

I'm still here tho haven't posted for a long long time. So long in fact I had to re-register with a shortened user name (my email details changed). Anyway, I have often visited the forum for a read and plan on posting more in the future. I have changed schools recently and have a lot of questions.

I'm back. rolleyes.2.gif

haven't posted since Dec 2007 (!) but my karate 'journey' has changed significantly.

In brief - left GKR as 1st kyu wannabe due to a change in location, started Taekwondo, hated it, and am now pursuing my own solo karate training. I have learned a lot since leaving GKR through my TKD experience and some casual training with some local martial artists, but am hungry to learn as much as I can - hence my return.

Most important thing I have learned is that my passion lies with karate and it is this art regardless of style that I want to pursue.
