Top tip...the brown belts - if they're honest with themselves - don't feel like they're 'good', they should be all too conscious of their own shortcomings.
I don't think that effect stops (or even should stop) whatever grade you are. I don't feel like I'm really 'good'. I'm certainly conscious of my own shortcomings and always have been, but its this feeling that makes us strive to improve. We reach for perfection knowing we will never attain it, but we reach anyway, that's what martial arts should be about IMO.
All that said, we should be able to measure that we are actually progressing, there would be something wrong if you were training but not progressing.
Congratulations on the new grade. By the time you feel you deserve someone will probably go and give you a now one:-)
