Hi Jay,
Welcome to the forum!

How did you break your toes? When I broke two of mine, it was on a yellow belt who decided to block my roundhouse kick with his elbow.... which was good of him:)
I think I broke another toe last year on Matt, but can`t be sure - it certainly went an odd colour!

Anyway, welcome aboard, any questions or anything, feel free!

hi tom,

thanks for the warm welcome , i broke my toes on a green belt in the same way you did.
i broke the blade of my foot on a black belt 5 months ago we both did a side kick ,same hight, same time just his foot was a bit harder than mine lol

there is one thing that you might be able to help with , im 5 11 and fight in a stone style and i have big probs with anyone with a better reach than me , no matter how much i block and try to counter or side step them i always get picked off . any tips ?

What's a stone style?

I was wondering that. I thought perhaps fighting in a stone style was akin to swimming in a stone style?

Hi everyone... My name's Eddie and I'm an alcoholic....hahah, just kidding. Thats what it feels like to come into this room and intro oneself.

Anyway, its pretty cool to hear everyones stories. I've done GKR for about 20 months and I am a 4th Kyu Red belt. I double graded twice, but I think thats because I did Shotokan at 11, and GKR back in 99, although I was only a yellow belt. I hope to grade to brown early next year even though I have done enough classes already to grade now. In no hurry to get my butt kicked harder at a grading! hahah!

Havent broken anything in karate, only broke my ankle while playing soccer with the kids (how embarrasing). Have recieved many bruises and been winded and had a rib dislogged and skin hanging off my feet..but thats about it. A female red belt, grading to brown, got knocked out in grading over the weekend. She got taken away in an ambulance. Um yeah....I am so not looking forward to my next grading!! blink.gif

Cheers guys!
Tom
Knocked out? I know the pastings get tougher the further you get up the gradings ladder, but that seems abit OTT. I think a headguard will be in order the next time I grade smile.gif
Welcome aboard by the way!

Yeah, many of us think that was majorly over the top. A 2nd Dan I thought would have better control. I heard she was unconcious for 5 hours. I dont think we are allowed head gear in our gradings. Statistically speaking that dosent happen to everyone, in fact happens to the few, so playing the odds I am going to hope luck places me well.

:-)
