With MMA seemingly overtaking boxing in the media, is boxing condemned to be a dying art? Do you think it will see off the hype of cage fighting with it's WWF style marketing, or get swallowed up into the MMA mix as just another bit of the jigsaw to assemble an all round fighter?

I think boxing still has a very dedicated and traditionalist type of supporter. Its also got such a massive history in European type countries I doubt it will ever be swallowed up (certainly hope not). Does an MMA event attract nearly as much hype as a world heavyweight championship? Seems everyone in Aus knows the names "Fenech, Tszyu and Green" yet I doubt many could mention three Australian (or indeed any) Pride/UFC competitors off the top of their head.
I think theres a place for both.... hope so anyway.

From a training, rather than a watching, point of view, we still have more people seeking us out to do boxing than MMA, and the boxers tend to last longer. MMA seems to have a shine that appeals to people (mostly younger males!!) cos it's a lot flashier looking than boxing. These people don't last long. It's a bit like people who take up a martial art with the idea that getting a black belt means everything, then finding out they have to actually TRAIN in order to earn it! The boxers train to learn, rather than for the glory of winning anything.
On the other hand, we sell more tickets for the MMA fights than for boxing...

Frank Shamrock, Randy Couture, Soa Palelei and Elvis Sinosic. Plus, now I can say I've even met two of them!

True. But I did know of the first three before that, and had met Soa before - I just had to make a point that I got to meet Elvis (who is totally awesome btw and very nice).
