So, which boxers stood out to you as a boy (or girl)? I just missed the Ali era, only remembering watching his fight against Larry Holmes. The fighters that really first got my attention were the middleweights Leonard, Hagler, Duran and Hearns. It seemed almost monthly there was a fight featuring at least one of them. Fights against any two of them were always ones to remember. It was, for me, the golden era of boxing that's never really been recaptured by any other fighters.

I remember (just wink.gif ) the Ali era. I dont think any boxer has been as revered as him since. Possible exception was Tyson in his early days who everyone honestly believed was unbeatable, but since then seems the markets opened up a lot.

Is this a bad thing? I think its better for any competition if theres no one person/team that totally dominates all the events. However there seems now to be if you're lucky 2 major events with 'big name' competitors a year... well according to local pay per view anyway. Hey who the heck is the current heavyweight champion anyway? Whens his next defence???? wink.gif
