On 90.5 FM, here in Perth, most Sundays there is a radio show called "Talking Martial Arts". Every week, they interview someone from the MA scene, mostly those based in Perth, but often visitors from elsewhere.
On December 3rd, one of the featured guests is Mick Todd, founder of Kitsunekan Karate, and the other will be Chris Hoath from Coastal Shotokan. The show will go to air at 5pm, after "The Boxing Show" (which starts at 4.30 if you're interested).
I'm sorry. I'm hopeless at writing blurbs. tongue.gif
If you are not local and would like to listen, you can also find streaming audio HERE and listen online.
Tom
That`s great. Thanks for that Kathie. I`m glad I`ll be able to listen online.
This really is a fantastic opportunity for both guests to talk about their clubs, their karate, the what, the why and the how.
Sionnagh
Chris has told me he can't make it as he has other commitments so looks like it'll be just me. blink.gif

With all the "fight nights" and kickboxing stuff over the next month they wanted to put something other than kickboxing in that week. And somehow they found us. Not sure how but hey! It's not everyday you get invited to do a radio interview. smile.gif faint.gif

I have my special "listening to the radio on a Sunday" spot staked out already, and have laid in a supply of coffee and munchies. smile.gif Looking forward to this!
Nooms
And for what it's worth, I think you did a fabulous job in spite of the hijacking and drifts of topic that went on, Mickle. You did great! bloodyripper.gif
Sionnagh
Well. The nerves settled after a bit and it was kind of fun... wink.gif

russkris

http://www.905.com.au/live/sportfm.asx
Nooms
I didn't record it, sorry. And yes, that's the one, Rusty.
russkris
For everyone, I asked on Team Ninja for some software to record data streams....

Try Here... http://all-streaming-media.com/record-vide...ndows-media.htm

I am going to give it a go today....
russkris
I have tested the SDP Downloader and have recorder 10:17mins of WA radio and it came out at a total of 464 bytes

Really easy to setup.... you get to decide what to save it as.. but you might need real player to listen to it...

I am currently trying the auto on and off, will let ya'll know or those interested.

I will try recording it today and if anyone would like a copy, I can email it.

EDIT: AUTO On is working
Nooms
Oooh! Me, me! I want a copy!
Ahem.
Sorry. smile.gif
If you record today's broadcast, I would like a copy please. And, btw, good job! biggrin.gif

Hain't moddun tecknollogie wunnerful?!
Due to a glitch in the mailing system, I hae only just learned there has been a programming change for this Sunday - Talking Martial Arts will commence at 6 p.m. (in 40 minutes from the time of posting this!) and this week the guest instructors will be from the Westside Kickboxing Academy - Mark Butcher and Garth Brown.
Sorry I couldn't post this earlier.

lol.gif and here I was thinking I had taped the wrong radio channel... but then again I forgot about the time difference lol.gif
Nooms
Did it work then? Apparently the station does have a recording which may be available, and this week's show (which was brilliant in the end!) *should* be aired again next Sunday but I haven't got times yet.
russkris
Hell yeah it worked, I got to hear a bit of the game between WA and England... Well that who I think it was, might have to listen to a bit more..

I taped about 2hours of the station and the file size was stupidly low, even peeps on dialup would like a copy.. It saves it as a .asf(or.asx) file which I played via "real Player"...

Is the program on at the same time every week?
If, so I would be more then happy to record them and email to as many people that would like or maybe I might be able to find a server to host the file(s)......

So if you can find out what time it air's every week and we can take it from there...

Just a quick tally of those who would like to have a copy....
and I will double check the file size.
Nooms
In theory, it's on at 5pm every Sunday (WADST) but the cricket apparently takes precendence at the moment (harrumph). Last Sunday, even the people presenting the show were told three different times! I will find out though, and see how reliable they are this week.
And considering how much hassle I am having getting a copy from the station, you can put me down for one, please.
Matt
Dont forget we have this new fangled daylight savings stuff to contend with.. wink.gif
Tom
Ah, we`ve had it for years! But the broadcast time over here (GMT) would be 8am.
russkris
so now WA is only 2 hours behind from Tassie time.

Sweet so that 7pm tassie time.

I re checked the file size and it was more then I thought, the 2hr tapeing was 15mb and the 45min was 5mb.

I havent check what zipping would do, so I will let ya know.

Send me a PM with your email address if ya want a copy and I will make a outlook thingy up..

Dialup should do a 5mb file in about 15 minutes.

So i will let ya'll know the zipped size

Just been sent the info for next week:
"Last weekend Grandmaster William Cheung of Wing Chun
Kung Fu was in Perth - conducting seminars on Wing
Chun at Sifus Peter Guys academy in Midland on
Saturday and Sunday.

We have an hour long interview with Grandmaster Cheung
this weekend commencing at 4.30 - 5.30 p.m. (WADST). This is a
definite quality listening time - for all martial arts
practitioners to tune in this interview. "

This is a replay of the interview from last Sunday (it was awesome and this dude used to teach someone called Bruce Lee apparently...) and *should* be aired on time.
russkris
Right I will sent it to start recording at 6:20pm..
Nooms
I hope you set it to record for at least an hour and a half then, considering it started late... bloody cricket.

Just a few points on the interview from today. The interviewees were Grandmaster William Cheung (The World Wing Chun Kung Fu Association) and Paul Ferrara from The Personal Protection Academy.
William Cheung was in Perth last weekend, conducting seminars at Si-Fu Peter Guy's Wing Chun Academy in Midland. Some of his claims to fame are his introducing Bruce Lee to kung fu and then training him for the next four and a half years, and he set the world speed punching record in 1984 (8.3 punches per second!).
The interview is awesome - he's a knowledgeable, polite, humble man and makes me wish I had gotten to learn from him while he was here. Unfortunately, Paul Ferrara seemed to fade into the background somewhat, but was happy to sit back and listen, and be awed by Grandmaster Cheung.
russkris
Sorry Peeps. For so reason it didn't record at the time I set it for, I will test it again and set it for next week..

Let me know
Nooms
*resists the urge to giggle*
Thanks Rusty, but that was the last one for this year smile.gif
I'll bug the powers-that-be some more and get a recording from the studio ASAP.
russkris
and when will it return?
Nooms
Start of Feb sometime - haven't got an exact date but will update when I know.
russkris
Any idea when it starts again Nooms

I am on leave for 4 weeks as of friday, so I should be able to tape the show

If anyone knows of some free audio editing software, I can set this recording software to record the whole day if I want and edit the bits before and after......

It need to edit .asfor.asx files
Nooms
It will be starting up again on either the 11th or 25th of Feb - waiting to hear when the scheduled guest is available.
Tom
Who is the guest going to be?
Nooms
Err... I forget. Will find out tonight.

Edit: At present (not confirmed though) - guest will be Marcel Booth, a boxer (a what?!) and the first show will be Feb 25th. I'll keep checking.
russkris
25th is coming up..... Any more info
Nooms
"If all goes according to plan the show will recommence on the 25th February at 4.p.m. - Boxing and Martial Arts at 4.30p.m."
The latest update. The email doesn't mention who the guests are although it mentions the new (totally drool-worthy) new anchor man.
russkris
Excellent, thanks for the info Nooms
Nooms
Did you happen to get this week's show, Rusty? I heard part of it but missed the rest.
Nooms
Hi everyone, this Sunday the Talking Martial Arts are speaking with Mike Williams from the
Williams Family Karate Academy. Mike has spent over 20 years involved with the Seito Shito-Ryu Karate, based in Osako Japan.
