Camberley Doko Kai are proud to be hosting a seminar on Sunday October 8th 2006
The Camberley dojo is holding a one day seminar lead by Kaicho Hiroshi Akamine the 3rd President of the association and Shihan Yukio Kuniyoshi 8th Dan, both from the Honbu Dojo in Okinawa.

Other senior instructors Sensei Paul Vermiglio - UK, Sensei Timothy Jurgens - Japan and hopefully Sensei Effi Schleyen - Israel all of whom have a vast knowledge of Ryukyu Kobudo and will be available for instruction on the day.

This seminar will be open to all martial artists regardless of art, Ryu, association, grade or experience of kobudo. Beginners will be most welcome on the day to experience at first hand the art of Okinawan kobudo.

I believe there are still some places left. I'm at home at the moment and the details are on my office pc. I'll post links for booking and contacts when I'm there next. It promises to be a good day. smile.gif

How did this event go guys?

Sorry we couldnt make it, but some woman really liked the look of the back of my new car, so she had a closer look.

It was really excellent Nigel - hope you and the car are feeling better. If you ever get the chance to train with s/Paul Vermiglio or Kaicho Hiroshi Akamine or Shihan Yukio Kuniyoshi!!!! s/Paul was right up our street with a great sense of humour and a pair of lightning nunchuku. Really great instructor too. Neither of the Okinawan sensei spoke vast amounts of English but were able to communicate their thoughts and corrections without too much trouble. There were also two bb young ladies from Okinawa who were very good with the bo and seeing the amount of power they could generate with a flick of their hips shows me that I have no excuse whatsoever! Had a fantastic day and have lots of bruises to prove it... all self-inflicted lmao. Has the lump on your head gone down yet mark?
Thatmanwaters
Phew, i thought you lot were ignoring me!!
Sounds great im really sorry we missed it, even if it was just to see the lump on marks head!!!!

Hehe, Nigel, you also missed S Jon flicking himself on the nose with the nunchaks...

It was a really great day. We also had some feedback from S Andre and S Daphne that Kaicho Akamine and Shihan Kuniyoshi were pleased with our standard which is nice to hear, especially as most of us are still very much beginners in the kobudo game.

I loved the session with the nunchaku most - damn, he was quick!! Though it did take me a few minutes to work out what he was actually saying (damn UK accents!) wacko.gif I think I learned most about the sai but the bo session was very helpful indeed.

At the end of the seminar they did a bo demonstration for us. From memory it was godan kata. It was one of those where you stand with your mouth open in awe and think "how the hell did he do that??"

Alround great day and good value for money. Sign me up for the next one. cool.gif

Someone is going to be in sooooo much trouble when he finds out how the whole goju community now know about that lmao.

My head still hurts. dry.gif I wouldn't mind, but I cracked myself in the warm up; the twiddly catch it behind your back and flick it under your arm stuff was fine! mad.gif

It was a superb day. What really struck me was how aproachable and relaxed Kaicho and the other sensei were; they really made the day. Oh, that and the two cute young Okinawan ladies (Kaicho's nieces) who helped out. Somehow young, pretty women who could kick your ass are strangely attractive...... blush.gif

Definitely a date for the diary next time around. cool.gif
