Hi Everyone,

I was doing a search on karate forums and lo and behold came across the GKR site and also recognised the forum members from Canberra. Thought I would register and say hello from Peter Sbirakos.

Hope everyone is well and training hard and hope all who participated in the NAS round 2 tourney have recovered well. It was quite brutal at times and I'm still a hurting unit!

Have a great day!

Welcome aboard!

Hey Peter! smile.gif

How did you enjoy the NAS tournament on sunday? I thought the standard was quite high, especially in the womens events where we're lucky to have 1-2 people per division. mad.gif

If you've found my "tournament diary" from last year, you'll have seen lots of pics of the canberra GKR-ians, and I think there's one or two pics of you also in the QLD group shots.

Looking foward to the WASO's in a few weeks time - See you and Hamish then.

Until then, welcome.gif to the site!

Julia.

This one?

Peter.... that lanyard round your neck... doesn't have smiley faces on it, does it?

Welcome aboard, jump on in (you know, that makes no sense whatsoever when I think about it, but, meh)

lol! great photo's though i don't think i'm very photogenic... eeek!

Goyle, i really enjoyed Rnd 2, love hamming it up and just enjoyed myself to the max, apart from that damm kick Ben Sledge drove into my midsection... hope you enjoyed it too. its just great to catch up with everyone and find out what's going in the karate community. Canberra is tiny as far as the martial arts go and yet quite insular at times, so i think the tourneys during the year are a terrific way to gauge some level of progress as well as to catch up on gossip and er.... fix Matt's single breasted suit!! heheh i thought that was funny. Sorry Matt! tongue.gif

yes, its a shame that there aren't more women competiting... but what can you do? maybe in another year or two things might change. i think that the men's division has grown and is at last becoming VERY competitive.

i think the standard was high too in both points, kata and the continuous.

WASO will be fun. i've started doing 50m sprints, lots and lots of speed type training to try and prepare. i think Hamish will love the event too, it will be his 3rd tournament.

Nooms, yes those are smileys.

thanks guys for the welcome!
Goyle
Nooms - That "lanyard" was an officials coaches pass to get onto the competition floor. So there were heaps of people walking around the place with Smileys around their necks. lol.gif

Hi Peter and welcome.

Missed the last NAS as wifey is about to give birth.

I believe we were in Vets and Open continious together in NAS first round at the netball centre.

Cheers
