I started kobudo today. They gave me a stick and told me to play. Then they gave me pointy wooden things and told me to play. Then they gave me sharp, pointy metal objects and told me to play.
I'm in heaven....



P.S.: translation of noomspeak - I am learning bo and sai, and later get to learn nunchaku and tonfa and kama.

Good going Kathie! I went to see an Iaido class the other week, As soon as I find time to get to it, I'm there.....

You are going to have to explain Iaido to me - Aida I know... but that's entirely different...

Iaido is the art of drawing the sword, it can be done from standing - or from seiza. There are alot of techniques that are performed in seiza - I know some karate styles practise open-handed versions of these strikes and blocks.
Maybe someone else would know more about this?

Aha sword now were talking i love my dvd my sensei has on sword, the sword kata are wicked, luv the ones where you are on the floor rolling from one cut to another.

LOL Nooms, I got a Bo for xmas last year. Only problem is that I nearly smashed a huge plate glass window that is near our back lawn and is the sunroom. I still play with it but am very careful now.

I am only allowed to use mine for good tooo - although I nearly killed my partner with it one night when he came home late, and I grabbed it out of instinct........
