OK... ready for the spiel? =P
My name is Angela.
I'm 20.
I train in Sunbury (R6 in Melbourne's West) at the moment.
I started GKR when I was 9 and did it for a year without getting to my yellow... chiefly cos mum wouldn't buy me a gi cos she thought i'd give it up. She was right. I did. Then I went back age 12, did it for 4 years til I was 16 and did my back in, did my HSC and moved 1000km away to do uni). PLanning on moving back to Sydney and my home dojo of Pymble at the end of the year.
While training for that four year gap in the middle, I trained and sempai'd at Pymble Dojo. I have trained at the following Dojos at some point in the last 11 years: Pymble, Turramurra South, Berowra, East Lindfield, St Ives North, Kanahooka, Maribyrnong, Sunbury. I also trained under Sensei Anthony Ryan when he was the RM in Region 1. In 2000, I spent a year with the NSW tournament team under the two Sensei Glens, Sensei Dave, Sensei Alex and Sensei Geoff and went to the Nationals and WASO titles in Melbourne.
WHEW!
I've stopped and started so many times I've lost count. This time, I have a car and nothing will stop me (short of another serious injury) getting my shodan. At the moment I'd be happy just to be fit enough to fit into my old gi properly again!

Outer-west - nearly in Windsor - currently train (very occasionally) at Riverstone (Wednesdays) in R2, but more often found at Lalor Park in R27 (Fridays and Tuesdays)

Angela, If you can get there, Lalor Park on Fridays is a great double class, catch Sensei Daniel at the later class. I trained there a couple of times earlier in the year when I flew to Australia.

Angela

I wonder if we'll have time to come and train with the LP's on the eve of the world cup?
How far is Lalor Park from Olympic park?

30-45 minutes depending on traffic I guess. But you have to stay for HJ's after class too...

Hey all! I feel so welcome =)
I will make it to Lalor Park at least one night over the summer on a friday - I train at Pymble on Tuesdays. A long drive, but it's always fun to try somewhere new.
Region 27 - is Sensei Glen Strike still the regional manager there? He used to have a class at Beverly Hills that was meant to be quite good...

Err, we'd better be, 'cause I'm probally going to be one of the drivers, and
someone has to map read for me...

That's not tooo bad. We'll think about it, and see how it affects our plans for debauchery that weekend.

Sensei Glen is a funny bloke, he from memory could also drink most other members of the state team under the table... of course, I was only 15 when i saw that so the memory might be a bit vague!
I keep seeing this and have to use it i think it's about the funniest little smiley ever!!!

You do realise we'd probably end up in Perth... or mexico. Sombreros, chinchilas y cerveza, oh my!

And I think debauchery can be spelt with or without the n, more commonly without.

you two are fine.
I'm the one who needs to get out more!

Hey, how many years ago was that, Angela?
Our RM used to be on the NSW tournament team, but it was possibly before your time.....
