Hello,
It's nice to find a forum with some sensible and constructive argument.
My wife and I started GKR in Portsmouth a couple of months ago.
We were lucky enough to join a completely new class, so there were around 16 people, all total beginners, all from the local community who started together. This has helped foster a fairly strong and friendly group that want to progress together, something I've always felt was lacking from existing karate schools (where there is the uncertainty of encroaching on what appears to be someone elses territory) - if it wasn't for the guy knocking on our door and inviting us, we'd have missed out on a lot.
So far we're loving it, and have already changed from one, to two classes per week, and will shortly be adding a third class, so that we can accelerate our learning.

Hi Rich and Em, It's always good to see more people from the UK here (I'm from Region 23)
I'm glad you're enjoying your training - It's good to see a proper sense of community spirit that your group seem to have.
Cheers
Tom.

Thanks, we've thought it might be useful to write down how we're learning things, so we can more easily remember what to practice in the garden - therefore any comments, suggestions and (probably most importantly) corrections, are welcome! Hopefully it'll also be useful to others as we progress.
