265-5. Flintoff has just been bowled out by Mr. Warne..... Superb batting under pressure...
289-6 *grumble* Collingwood is out.... Bl**dy Shane bl**dy Warne...
297-7. Strauss is out... That sound you just heard was me having a heart attack.................
It`s time on the first day of the last test.... England concludes with 319-7.
I gotta say it - respect for Mr. Warne - that was bowling at its very finest ( even if he did give us a few hairy moments

).

Well, it`s the last day of the final test of The Ashes - And Australia need to force a win if they`re to retain the ashes.... And I`m gonna miss the last half cos of bein' at work!!! Grrr....
And by the look of it, The Aussie are back in business... It`s 68-3, Ian bell has just been bowled out for a duck - It ain't looking too good...... But Pietersen has just come in to bat.
We have a 74 run lead - but we can't afford to sit on it - not the way Warne is bowling today, that man is definitely on a mission...

Bl**dy warne has just bowled out trescothick...........
On the upside, Flintoff has just come on. If Warne bowls him out -I`m gonna start panicking .... 110-4

What's the odds on the Aussies having to chase 200+ after tea to retain the ashes, them having to go for it and England bowling them out to win?
I'll revise that - Flintoff's just got out.
Bugger!
Tom
Sep 12 2005, 08:25 PM
Time to panic - Flintoff is out after only 8 runs..... 126-5
( and my sentiments exactly, Mark! )

We`ve just stopped for lunch with 73 overs remaining. I`ve never seen bowling like it ... The Aussies just went for it...

Flintoff getting out was a cunning tactic to keep him fresh to take 10 Aussie wickets after tea.
We don't want to get too far ahead and have the Aussies blocking out for a draw......

250+ and still going.

Surely we've done enough?

Australia need about 17 an over off 20 overs to win.
In the dark.
I do believe we have the Ashes back.

After a very strange conclusion...... WE HAVE REGAINED THE ASHES! Time to open a bottle or two!

Eyes are on the Prize..... ( what a horrible horrible cliche` )
Can the Poms hold onto the Ashes despite injury and selection problems? Or can the Convicts claim them back ( despite having a combined team age of 3 million.... )
Open book really....... Care for a small wager Matt?

Oh well, one-nil up is a dangerous place to be, esp with niggling injuries to pigeon and punter.
However, the England bowling attack was particularly toothless, and will need a severe revamp before Adelaide.
2-0 to you sorry lot.........
Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory...

Matt, I`ve spoken to my cricket team, and we`ve reluctantly decided to concede the Ashes to you....
you MAY have them back for a short time
As soon as i`ve placed my cricket teams heads on the spikes at the Lords ground gates we can all get on with finding another squad

Right, Rugby`s next isn`t it?
Matt
Dec 19 2006, 09:26 AM
Conceded? I'd say we wrenched them out of your hands and left you bleeding on the sidewalk

.
On to Paris, sept 07. we wont be making much of an impact however.
Is Mr Wilkinson going to make an appearance?

Is Mr Wilkinson going to make an appearance?
Unlikely. He`ll probably be injured again by then. And every other decent player we`ve got will be off sick aswell. or get sent home due to "stress" or something.
Seriously though, England used to field good teams, not just cricket, but football and rugby aswell. All this poor performance filters down to the schools and local clubs and doesn`t inspire the kids there to take up the sports.
Our national teams have got to stop living off past glories because they`re getting left behind.

On a happy note, England have just won their first cricket match since arriving in Australia three months ago. It was against New Zealand.

Won?

Against New Zealand?

OK... you
do realise that
losing to the Kiwis would be such a dismal failure that the captain of the team would be compelled to resign?

Mick.... Can you just allow you our little moment please. Thankyou
At last! After 100-odd days, a win against the Aussies!

Someone probably snuck in and turned off the beer fridge in the night thus completely demoralising the team.

England have just beaten Australia 2-0 in the Commonwealth Bank series. This is a great result, not only cos its a win, but it`s a boost for the teams confidence aswell after their winter of discontent!
